First known written definition of an Antichrist (dic. Nicot, 1694):
."Opposed to Jesus Christ, enemy of Jesus Christ. It is said in the holy writing that there were several Antichrists in the time of the apostle."

The Times and countries of this section deal with the Antichrists
described in Centuries. Nostradamus gives a report on three antichrists,
but no details on the first one which may have been a Roman emperor. The
second was Robespierre leaving little doubt on the question since
he gave the date of "1792". The third is still to come and his many
descriptions encircle a character who would be, inter alia, Eastern.
There are common
characteristics to the three. They persecute the Christian religion and
its representatives, forbid worship and make themselves responsible for
human slaughters. This corresponds to the first French definition of the
word that was published in the Nicot dictionary of 1694. The Antichrist
of the Centuries does not have much to do with Hollywood's special effects
of movies like the Exorcist.
And, Nostradamus predicts the
coming of a new sect. At no point he really writes that it is the sect of
the Antichrist except for the quatrain number: 6-66. Looking at all
the new sects that have come to life in the past few years, the coming of
the Antichrist as described by the seer may be his way or in a matter of
a very little time.
Enjoy.
