These Times and Regions refer to Nostradamus' vision over the period of history prior to his publishing of the Centuries
in 1555. He devoted approximately one quarter of his quatrains to this period
and made use of it to project himself in the future. The seer had a disproportionate
interest for the antique world as did most of the Rebirth era great minds.
He borrowed the name of his son from Cesar, his book title from a Roman mode
of organization and others from similar sources. Some of the historical details
that he gave cannot be verified, and it could mean that he had access to
books and documents that have disappeared or been destroyed since.
