The Times and Regions in this section refer to the seer's revelations on mysteries, secrets and treasures.

Nostradamus reports several treasures. Some are archaeological while others consist in incredible quantities of gold and silver still to be found.

The treasures of history

He mentions a vase stolen by the Barbarians in Rome. This could well be the emperor Trojan funerary urn pillaged by the Visigoths during their invasion of Rome in the early 5th Century. Some historians provide a hypothesis on the becoming of this solid gold object encrusted with jewelery that symbolized the power of Rome. They contend that it was turned back to the Romans against a ransom. If so, the urn should have returned under the Trojan Colona where it belonged. Instead, it never showed back up.

And another mystery dwells on the legendary treasure of the Visigoths, which according to some trustworthy sources, would still be hidden somewhere in the Pyrenees, a mountainous area across northern Spain and southern France. Year after year, this legend attracts thousands of treasure hunters in the Cathare region.

Also, many websites and authors contend that Nostadamus was affiliated to the Order of the Temple. Some hints in his writing lead to think that the treasure of the Templars would be hidden in the region of Cevennes. Many popular stories point in this direction. The most interesting one is the Lignon legend that states that the treasure is hidden in a cave under the Lignon river.

The mythical treasures

The seer describes some excavations and a miraculous lamp that never extinguishes. He may be referring to the lamp of the Vestals. The Vestals were virgin religious women day and night devoted to keep the Roman flame alit. Letting it die would have caused the empire to fall and the women to be walled and starved to death.

But Nostradamus gives a lot of importance to the lamp leading to another deduction. The author had some Jewish origins and would be referring to the Old Testament Menorah. The twenty pounds solid gold sacred lamp ordered by God to his people is the eternal symbol of His alliance with men. Nabuchonazar was cursed after he used it to drink his wine. It disappeared during the siege of Jerusalem in the first Century AD. Joseph, a Jewish diplomat, witnessed in his book "The Jewish War" that a certain Jesus, priest in the holy city, exchanged some temple valuables against food for the besieged people. General Trojan, father of the emperor and in charge of the siege along with Titus, could not have ignored it. The holy lamp would still be in a cave buried under the antique city of Rome. Many historical facts such as a faithful copy of the Menorah made in Rome establish that the Menorah was sent to Rome.

The quest of the Grail motivated Hitler before and during the Second World War. The possessed man was searching for some supernatural powers that would have made him invincible and helped him to subjugate the world. The records indicate that he ordered 3 archaeological expeditions for that purpose. However, the supposed powers of the cup that watered the Christ before his sacrifice is a Celtic legend invented during the 7th Century. In contrast, the powers associated with the Menorah are clearly stated in the Bible. Luckily, no interpreter had yet understood this back in the 1930s. So, the dictator's expeditions were all directed towards the Pyrenees instead of Rome, thus doomed to failure.

The Tombs

He also reports on a mysterious tomb. Some interpreters think that it refers to Saint Peter’s. Nostradamus may have been influenced by the legend of Pavalas-Les-Flots, a village by the Mediterranean sea near Montpellier where the seer attended medical school. It states that 3 priests attempted to preserve the relics shortly before an Arab invasion. They fled town, but were attacked and killed on their way. No one knows if their mission actually succeeded.

As for the Trojan Colona where the emperor's funerary urn stands. Nostradamus predicted its fate in quatrain 10-64. The imperial statue that topped the column was removed by some Zealots during the year 1588, 22 years after the seer died, and replace by Saint Peter's. The Centuries many references to a Great Roman, such as in the quatrains 5-66 and 6-66 could be referring to Saint Peter and Trojan. Notice the quatrains numbers that conceal a symbolic meaning. The seer mentions the Colona again in quatrain 8-66. The quatrain 7-66 was never published; Undoubtedly, it dealt with the Saint Peter statue that still dominates the Vatican.

The lost writing

To finish, he reveals the existence of some ancient writing hidden in several places, and waiting to be found. An attentive reader of Centuries could end up unfolding their mysteries to take a grasp of the ancient treasures.

Enjoy.
